One notable example involved a US lawyer who <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/2023\/06\/new-york-judge-appears-before-court-to-explain-his-use-of-bogus-ai-generated-legal-cases\/\">included fabricated cases<\/a> in a legal brief submitted on behalf of a plaintiff.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, Google&#8217;s AI chatbot Bard was involved in a factual error regarding the James Webb Space Telescope, which embarrassingly occurred during a live demonstration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wendalyn Nichols, the publishing manager at Cambridge Dictionary, highlighted the importance of human oversight in AI usage, stating, &#8220;The fact that AIs can &#8216;hallucinate&#8217; reminds us that humans still need to bring their critical thinking skills to the use of these tools. AIs are fantastic at churning through huge amounts of data to extract specific information and consolidate it. But the more original you ask them to be, the likelier they are to go astray.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The fact we&#8217;ve assigned a definition related to our own human experiences to AI in &#8220;hallucinations&#8221; is linguistically intriguing.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Henry Shevlin, an AI ethicist at Cambridge University, mentioned how this is an example of us anthropomorphizing AI technology to understand it through our human experiences. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shevlin said, &#8220;The widespread use of the term &#8216;hallucinate&#8217; to refer to mistakes by systems like ChatGPT provides [&#8230;] a fascinating snapshot of how we&#8217;re anthropomorphising AI.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New AI and tech terms in the Cambridge Dictionary\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond &#8220;hallucinate,&#8221; the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cam.ac.uk\/research\/news\/cambridge-dictionary-names-hallucinate-word-of-the-year-2023\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cambridge Dictionary added<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> several other AI and tech-related terms:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Prompt engineering<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Designing prompts for optimal AI responses.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Large language model (LLM)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Mathematical language representations based on extensive data, enabling human-like language generation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>GenAI<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Short for generative AI, encompassing AIs that create text, images, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Train<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: In machine learning, developing or enhancing a system through data input.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Black box<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Systems that operate without transparent processes to the user.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These additions, along with terms like &#8220;shadowban,&#8221;
