Mas sabemos que as pequenas constela\u00e7\u00f5es de sat\u00e9lites est\u00e3o a proliferar por todo o lado\".<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A velocidade dos sinais produzidos pelos sismos no mar \u00e9 influenciada pela densidade das part\u00edculas carregadas na ionosfera da Terra, que se encontra a cerca de 300 a 350 quil\u00f3metros acima da superf\u00edcie. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quando um tsunami gera ondas de choque que ascendem \u00e0 atmosfera, alteram a densidade destas part\u00edculas carregadas, levando a modifica\u00e7\u00f5es ligeiras mas detect\u00e1veis nos sinais recebidos pelos sat\u00e9lites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpl.nasa.gov\/news\/scientists-look-to-skies-to-improve-tsunami-detection\">Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o anterior<\/a> conduzido pelo Laborat\u00f3rio de Propuls\u00e3o a Jato da NASA e pela Universidade Sapienza de Roma, em It\u00e1lia, conduziu a um m\u00e9todo computacional para medir as flutua\u00e7\u00f5es na densidade de part\u00edculas carregadas devidas a tsunamis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Com base nisto, Constantinou e a sua equipa converteram os dados, originalmente em formatos unidimensionais, em imagens bidimensionais. Estas imagens foram depois analisadas por modelos de IA para detetar sinais relacionados com tsunamis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A equipa treinou o seu sistema de IA utilizando dados de tr\u00eas tsunamis espec\u00edficos induzidos por terramotos: os tsunamis de 2010 no Chile, 2011 no Jap\u00e3o e 2012 no Canad\u00e1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Testaram a efic\u00e1cia do modelo num quarto tsunami causado pelo terramoto de Illapel, no Chile, em 2015. A IA foi examinada para avaliar a sua capacidade de diferenciar as altera\u00e7\u00f5es induzidas pelo tsunami do ru\u00eddo de fundo ionosf\u00e9rico normal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para minimizar os falsos positivos, os investigadores filtraram as perturba\u00e7\u00f5es causadas pelas esta\u00e7\u00f5es terrestres em comunica\u00e7\u00e3o com os sat\u00e9lites a\u00e9reos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De acordo com Quentin Brissaud da NORSAR, uma funda\u00e7\u00e3o norueguesa de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00edsmica n\u00e3o ligada ao estudo, esta metodologia produziu \"resultados bastante bons\" com uma taxa de precis\u00e3o de dete\u00e7\u00e3o superior a 90%.
