{"id":5773,"date":"2023-09-23T09:57:32","date_gmt":"2023-09-23T09:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/?p=5773"},"modified":"2023-09-23T10:01:34","modified_gmt":"2023-09-23T10:01:34","slug":"uk-deputy-pm-oliver-dowden-warns-of-ais-global-risks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/09\/uk-deputy-pm-oliver-dowden-warns-of-ais-global-risks\/","title":{"rendered":"Oliver Dowden, vice-premier van het Verenigd Koninkrijk, waarschuwt voor wereldwijde risico's van AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>De Britse vice-premier Oliver Dowden zal de internationale gemeenschap waarschuwen voor het potentieel van AI om de wereldorde te destabiliseren.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In zijn toespraak tot de Algemene Vergadering van de Verenigde Naties (VN) in New York zal Dowden benadrukken dat het dringend noodzakelijk is om AI te reguleren, omdat de snelle ontwikkeling ervan de capaciteiten van overheden om de veiligheid ervan te garanderen wel eens te boven zou kunnen gaan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Het Verenigd Koninkrijk maakt zich op om in november gastheer te zijn van de wereldwijde AI Safety Summit, gericht op AI-regelgeving.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dowden stelt: \"Het startschot is gegeven voor een wereldwijd concurrerende race waarin zowel individuele bedrijven als landen ernaar zullen streven om de grenzen zo ver en zo snel mogelijk te verleggen.\"\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hij zal verder benadrukken dat de wereldwijde regelgeving achterloopt op de huidige ontwikkelingen op het gebied van AI. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De razendsnelle ontwikkeling van AI maakt het moeilijk om deze technologie vast te leggen in wetten en regels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dowden zal benadrukken dat AI-bedrijven niet moeten worden overgelaten aan \"hun eigen huiswerk\" en dat overheden en burgers erop moeten kunnen vertrouwen dat AI-gerelateerde risico's adequaat worden aangepakt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dowden waarschuwt er echter ook voor om AI strikt te zien als een kracht voor goed of kwaad en merkt op dat \"het een hulpmiddel voor beide zal zijn\". De tweeledige aard van AI bemoeilijkt ook het reguleringsmechanisme, omdat de algoritmes die nodig zijn om 'goed te doen' ook die kunnen zijn die schade kunnen aanrichten.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Warner merkte ook de verschuiving op in het discours rond AI-veiligheid en stelde dat dit onderwerp een paar jaar geleden grotendeels werd genegeerd.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Verschillende toonaangevende AI-bedrijven zijn het eens over de noodzaak van regulering. De <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/09\/the-first-ai-forum-when-tech-titans-lawmakers-and-critics-converge\/\">eerste AI Insight Forum<\/a> vond deze maand plaats en zag wederzijdse instemming van deelnemers uit de hele AI-industrie, waaronder Elon Musk en OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yasmin Afina, een onderzoeker bij Chatham House, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-66879709\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vertelde de BBC dat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Het bereiken van een snelle internationale overeenkomst over AI zal een uitdaging zijn. Ze vergeleek de complexiteit van AI met kernwapens en wees op de langdurige onderhandelingen die nodig zijn voor nucleaire overeenkomsten.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Afina benadrukte ook dat het belangrijk is om gemarginaliseerde gemeenschappen en kleinere landen bij deze discussies te betrekken om ervoor te zorgen dat ze niet buitenspel worden gezet.
