{"id":5437,"date":"2023-09-13T19:14:49","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T19:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/?p=5437"},"modified":"2023-09-14T11:35:48","modified_gmt":"2023-09-14T11:35:48","slug":"lawmakers-investigate-ghost-workers-at-top-ai-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/09\/lawmakers-investigate-ghost-workers-at-top-ai-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"Wetgevers onderzoeken \"spookwerknemers\" bij AI-topbedrijven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Een coalitie van Democratische wetgevers onder leiding van senator Ed Markey uit Massachusetts en afgevaardigde Pramila Jayapal uit Washington belicht de benarde situatie van \"spookwerkers\" in topbedrijven in de technologiesector.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deze werknemers, die vaak worden ingehuurd en onderbetaald, spelen een belangrijke rol bij taken zoals het labelen van gegevens en het modereren van inhoud, die essentieel zijn voor de ontwikkeling van AI.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"Ondanks de essenti\u00eble aard van dit werk, voeren miljoenen gegevenswerkers over de hele wereld deze stressvolle taken uit onder constant toezicht, met lage lonen en zonder voordelen,\" schreven de wetgevers in een brief aan de CEO's van negen bedrijven, waaronder Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft en Meta Platforms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De brief gaat in op de zorgwekkende omstandigheden waaronder deze werknemers werken. \"Van werknemers wordt verwacht dat ze gevaarlijke chatbot-antwoorden screenen, maar ze hebben mogelijk weinig tijd om de veiligheid van een antwoord te beoordelen\", voegen de wetgevers eraan toe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dit onderzoek eist transparantie van techgiganten over hun datawerknemers, inclusief specifieke informatie over arbeidsomstandigheden, pauzes, beroepsprocedures en geestelijke gezondheidszorg.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inhoud modereren is een controversi\u00eble job<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In juli en augustus hebben Keniaanse werknemers van databedrijf Sama <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/08\/kenyan-ai-content-moderators-petition-the-government-over-traumatic-working-conditions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dienden een verzoekschrift in bij hun regering<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in een klacht over de werkomstandigheden voor OpenAI-projecten. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De medewerkers van Sama moesten tekst met groteske en traumatische informatie sorteren en labelen om de filters van ChatGPT te verbeteren.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Content moderatie is vaak bekritiseerd als een psychologisch traumatische job die vaak gepaard gaat met een laag loon en beperkte toegang tot hulp en advies. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Terwijl AI-bedrijven zoals OpenAI geautomatiseerde benaderingen ontwikkelen om <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/08\/openai-announces-intentions-to-deploy-gpt-4-for-content-moderation\/\">inhoud matigen en labelen<\/a>De rol van menselijke werknemers blijft intrinsiek voor het bouwen van de veilige AI-producten die we als vanzelfsprekend beschouwen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keniaanse werknemers en andere inhoudsbeheerders hebben door hun werk geleden aan PTSS en ernstige geestelijke gezondheidsproblemen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"Technologiebedrijven mogen geen AI bouwen over de ruggen van uitgebuite arbeiders,\" benadrukten de Democraten,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">waaronder senator Elizabeth Warren uit Massachusetts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Het initiatief valt samen met de eerste <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/09\/the-first-ai-forum-when-tech-titans-lawmakers-and-critics-converge\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AI Inzicht Forum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> van Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, ook over ethische arbeidspraktijken in de AI-industrie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Liz Shuler, de voorzitster van de A.F.L-C.I.O.
