{"id":3507,"date":"2023-08-02T15:26:09","date_gmt":"2023-08-02T15:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/?p=3507"},"modified":"2023-08-02T15:29:40","modified_gmt":"2023-08-02T15:29:40","slug":"ai-shows-promise-in-breast-cancer-screening-study-reveals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/08\/ai-shows-promise-in-breast-cancer-screening-study-reveals\/","title":{"rendered":"Onderzoek toont aan dat AI veelbelovend is bij borstkankerscreening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Volgens tussentijdse onderzoeksresultaten gepubliceerd door een Zweeds onderzoeksteam kunnen AI-systemen borstkankerscreeningbeelden \"veilig\" interpreteren, met een effici\u00ebntie die vergelijkbaar is met die van 2 radiologen.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Van cruciaal belang is dat het AI-ondersteunde screeningsproces de werklast met 44,3% verminderde, terwijl<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tumoren in mammogrammen detecteren met dezelfde nauwkeurigheid als 2 menselijke radiologen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historisch gezien waren onderzoeken naar de rol van AI bij de diagnose van borstkanker op basis van mammogrammen retrospectief, waarbij scans werden beoordeeld die al door medische professionals waren onderzocht.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Omgekeerd is dit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lanonc\/article\/PIIS1470-2045(23)00298-X\/fulltext\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recente studie<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is een gerandomiseerd, gecontroleerd bevolkingsonderzoek met meer dan 80.000 Zweedse vrouwen van gemiddeld 54 jaar oud. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De helft van de mammogrammen werd onderzocht door 2 radiologen (zoals standaard), terwijl de andere helft in eerste instantie werd beoordeeld door het AI-systeem, gevolgd door beoordeling door 1 of 2 radiologen (afhankelijk van de aangegeven kwaadaardigheid van de tumor, indien gedetecteerd).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De resultaten toonden aan dat 244 vrouwen met de diagnose kanker werden ge\u00efdentificeerd via AI-ondersteunde screening, vergeleken met 203 vrouwen die werden opgespoord via standaard screening. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Met name het gebruik van AI resulteerde niet in meer fout-positieven. Er was een afname van 44,3% in de werklast van radiologen, wat hier het cruciale resultaat is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Kristina L\u00e5ng van de Universiteit van Lund, Zweden, zei, <\/span>\"Het grootste potentieel van AI op dit moment is dat het radiologen in staat zou kunnen stellen om minder belast te worden door de buitensporige hoeveelheid leeswerk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1kas69x\">\"Hoewel ons AI-ondersteund screeningsysteem ten minste \u00e9\u00e9n radioloog nodig heeft die verantwoordelijk is voor de detectie, zou het de noodzaak voor het dubbel lezen van de meerderheid van de mammogrammen kunnen wegnemen, waardoor de werkdruk afneemt en radiologen zich kunnen richten op meer geavanceerde diagnostiek, terwijl de wachttijden voor pati\u00ebnten korter worden.\"<\/p>\n<p>Het overkoepelende proces van het identificeren van kanker uit beelden met behulp van AI wordt computer vision (CV) genoemd en strekt zich uit tot r\u00f6ntgenfoto's, MRI's en andere scans. Een <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2023\/06\/ezra-receives-fda-clearance-for-ai-powered-mri-scanner\/\">AI-ondersteunde MRI-scanner<\/a> kreeg onlangs goedkeuring van de FDA in de VS.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uitsplitsing studie<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Achtergrond onderzoek<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Er werd een gerandomiseerde, gecontroleerde, bevolkingsstudie uitgevoerd om de klinische veiligheid te beoordelen van een door AI ondersteund screen-reading protocol bij mammografie, in vergelijking met de standaard screen-reading methode door radiologen.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Proefmethode<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: In aanmerking komende vrouwen in de leeftijd van 40 tot 80 jaar van 4 screeningslocaties in Zweden werden ge\u00efnformeerd over het onderzoek. Degenen die zich niet afmeldden, werden willekeurig verdeeld in de AI-ondersteunde screeninggroep (interventiegroep) en de controlegroep. Het AI-systeem leverde een maligniteitsrisicoscore op een schaal van 10 niveaus, die gebruikt werd om screeningsonderzoeken te triageren naar single reading of double reading, waarbij de risicoscores en computerondersteunde detectiemarkeringen beschikbaar waren voor de radiologen die de screening uitvoerden.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Bevindingen onderzoek<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Van april 2021 tot juli 2022 werden 80.033 vrouwen toegewezen aan AI-ondersteunde screening of dubbele uitlezing zonder AI. AI-ondersteunde screening resulteerde in 244 op het scherm gedetecteerde kankers, 861 terugroepingen en 46.345 screenlezingen. Standaardscreening resulteerde in 203 opgespoorde kankers, 817 herhalingen en 83.231 screenlezingen. De werklast voor het screenen werd met 44,3% verminderd met behulp van AI.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Het Zweedse onderzoeksteam gaf aan dat het nog te vroeg is om dergelijke technologie in te zetten, maar de rol van AI in de medische diagnostiek is tot op heden goed gedocumenteerd.
