Google, Samsung en anderen werken eraan om verschillende AI-functies voor iedereen beschikbaar te maken. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De poging van Apple lijkt echter verder door te dringen in de manier waarop we onze apparaten, en daarmee onze gegevens, gebruiken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toen Apple en OpenAI hun samenwerking aankondigden, was Elon Musk een van de eersten die benadrukte hoe OpenAI van deze samenwerking zou kunnen profiteren.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7OgZAAdPf6\">pic.twitter.com\/7OgZAAdPf6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>- Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1800272349134279011?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">10 juni 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apple en OpenAI beweerden al snel dat dit niet het geval zou zijn, <\/span>\"Privacybescherming is ingebouwd bij toegang tot ChatGPT binnen Siri en Writing Tools-verzoeken worden niet opgeslagen door OpenAI en IP-adressen van gebruikers worden verborgen.\"<\/p>\n<h2>EU-vertraging en zorgen over regelgeving<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apple kondigde later aan dat ten minste drie belangrijke AI-functies in hun uitrol - Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing-uitbreidingen en de overkoepelende Apple Intelligence - tot 2025 niet beschikbaar zullen zijn voor gebruikers in de Europese Unie. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dit komt voort uit zorgen over de Digital Markets Act (DMA) van de EU, die tot doel heeft eerlijke concurrentie en interoperabiliteit tussen digitale platforms te bevorderen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In wezen is t<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e DMA eist van grote techbedrijven als Apple dat hun producten goed samenwerken met die van hun concurrenten.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apple maakt zich zorgen dat het compatibel maken van zijn AI-functies met concurrerende platforms de veiligheid van gebruikersgegevens in gevaar kan brengen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Appel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-06-21\/apple-won-t-roll-out-ai-tech-in-eu-market-over-regulatory-concerns?sref=fqqmZ8gi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">een verklaring vrijgegeven<\/a> beloven samen te werken met de Europese Commissie om een oplossing te vinden die hen in staat stelt hun nieuwe tools uit te rollen<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0aan klanten in de EU zonder hun veiligheid in gevaar te brengen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>EU: eerlijk of een veelvraat van straffen?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apple is niet het enige techbedrijf dat de laatste tijd in conflict is met de EU.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meta onlangs <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailyai.com\/nl\/2024\/06\/meta-backs-down-on-using-eu-social-media-to-train-its-ai\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">de lancering van Meta AI geannuleerd<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Europa nadat het bezwaren had gekregen van EU toezichthouders en privacy voorvechters over zijn plan om AI modellen te trainen met gebruikersgegevens van Facebook en Instagram.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meta was van plan om zijn servicevoorwaarden aan te passen om het gebruik van sociale mediaposts van EU-gebruikers voor trainingsdoeleinden toe te staan, maar daar kwam snel verzet tegen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In reactie hierop krabbelde Meta terug en verklaarde dat het geen social media posts uit de EU zou gebruiken om zijn AI-modellen te trainen en, net als Apple, de lancering van zijn nieuwe producten zou uitstellen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De verklaring van Meta luidde: \"We zouden mensen alleen een tweederangs ervaring kunnen bieden. Dit betekent dat we Meta AI op dit moment niet in Europa kunnen lanceren.\"<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aan de ene kant is de EU sterk betrokken bij het beschermen van burgers en het in toom houden van big tech. Aan de andere kant<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toch zijn er gegronde zorgen dat de regelzucht van de EU averechts kan werken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We zien nu aanwijzingen dat het aanzienlijk moeilijker is om AI-tools op de markt te brengen in de EU, en bedrijven kunnen op zoek gaan naar groenere weiden in regio's met soepelere regels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Maakt dat wat uit? Dat hangt af van hoe je het bekijkt.
