Grote recensenten hebben de zeepbel van de Humane AI Pin laten barsten, een $699 AI-gevoed draagbaar apparaat.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Het apparaat, dat op de borst gedragen wordt en voorzien is van een touchpad, camera en laserprojector, belooft gebruikers handsfree toegang te geven tot AI-modellen zoals OpenAI's ChatGPT 4.0 en Google's Gemini.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De eerste indrukken van onder andere The Verge, WIRED en The Washington Post suggereren echter dat de AI Pin zijn doel niet bereikt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

David Pierce van <\/span>The Verge<\/span><\/a> heeft het apparaat bijna twee weken getest. Hij vond het \"zo grondig onaf en zo totaal kapot op zoveel onaanvaardbare manieren\" dat hij het aan niemand kon aanbevelen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hij noemde ook problemen met trage prestaties, oververhitting, slechte batterijduur en het onvermogen om basistaken betrouwbaar uit te voeren.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Over het algemeen zou ik zeggen dat voor elke succesvolle interactie met de AI Pin, ik drie of vier mislukte heb gehad,\" betreurde Pierce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Julian Chokkattu van <\/span>WIRED<\/span><\/a> bevestigde dit en merkte op dat de antwoorden van de AI Pin vaak onnauwkeurig of traag waren en dat het projectiedisplay moeilijk te navigeren was, vooral bij daglicht. Hij ondervond ook thermische problemen, waarbij het apparaat al na een paar zoekopdrachten oververhit raakte.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De <\/span>AI Pen<\/span><\/a>De camera was ook teleurstellend, vooral bij weinig licht, maar dat is te vergeven. Chokkattu had ook een aantal positieve punten, zoals realtime vertaling van hoge kwaliteit en solide draadloos bellen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hij benadrukte de beperkte compatibiliteit van het apparaat met populaire diensten en het onvermogen om te synchroniseren met het bestaande telefoonnummer van een gebruiker als belangrijkste nadelen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Als we hier iets van kunnen leren, dan is het wel dat we, in plaats van ons te buiten te gaan aan een nieuw apparaat dat onze problemen belooft op te lossen, onszelf misschien beter kunnen dwingen om de apparaten die we al hebben verstandiger te gebruiken,\" schreef Velazco.<\/span><\/p>\n

De AI Pin mist het doel - maar het is nog maar het begin<\/h2>\n

Een van de grootste problemen die beoordelaars tegenkwamen was het gebrek aan basisfuncties en integraties van de AI Pin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Het instellen van herinneringen, het openen van kalenders en het navigeren naar locaties ontbreken op dit moment, hoewel Humane heeft verklaard dat veel van deze functies in toekomstige updates zullen worden toegevoegd.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De beveiliging van het apparaat gaf ook aanleiding tot ongerustheid, omdat het vertrouwen op een fysieke wachtwoordcode onbevoegde toegang mogelijk zou kunnen maken als het onbeheerd op een jas of tas wordt achtergelaten.<\/span><\/p>\n

Het AI Pin-project doet denken aan Google Glass, dat prompt werd opgeschort voor de consumentenmarkt nadat Google zich realiseerde dat niemand het op zijn gezicht wilde hebben.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Net als Google Glass destijds, is de AI Pin op dit moment het enige apparaat in zijn soort dat verkrijgbaar is. Het is niche, het is duidelijk op iemands lichaam geplaatst, het maakt niet de juiste indruk en het rechtvaardigt zijn forse prijskaartje niet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toch hebben de medeoprichters van Humane, Imran Chaudhri en Bethany Bongiorno, die eerder bij Apple werkten, benadrukt dat de AI Pin slechts het begin is van hun visie.<\/span><\/p>\n
