Som all annen teknologi krever den energi.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ai.stackexchange.com\/questions\/38970\/how-much-energy-consumption-is-involved-in-chat-gpt-responses-being-generated\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fersk artikkel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fant at BLOOM-modellen brukte 433 MWh p\u00e5 \u00e5 trene, mens GPT-3 trengte hele 1287 MWh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OpenAIs ChatGPT trenger anslagsvis 564 MWh daglig for \u00e5 beregne svarene p\u00e5 brukerens sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l. Nyere lovgivning og insentiver stimulerer til bygging av halvleder-, elbil- og batterifabrikker, noe som ogs\u00e5 bidrar til den skyh\u00f8ye ettersp\u00f8rselen etter str\u00f8m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evergy, som forsyner Kansas City-omr\u00e5det, utsatte for eksempel nedleggelsen av et kullkraftverk fra 1960-tallet for \u00e5 takle ettersp\u00f8rselen fra nye utbygginger, blant annet et datasenter for Meta Platforms og en batterifabrikk for elbiler fra Panasonic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Til tross for at mange teknologibedrifter og produsenter av ren teknologi foretrekker fornybar energi, sier virkeligheten noe annet. Det er vanskelig \u00e5 se for seg hvordan dette energiforbruket kan kompenseres.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Situasjonen er ikke unik for USA. P\u00e5 verdensbasis har Kina, India, Storbritannia og EU alle kommet med advarsler om AIs \u00f8kende str\u00f8mbehov.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Hvordan skal vi betale?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Etter hvert som AI-teknologiene blir allestedsn\u00e6rv\u00e6rende, kolliderer deres \u00f8kologiske fotavtrykk med de globale ambisjonene om en fremtid med netto nullutslipp. Selv om vi ser bort fra de h\u00f8ye ambisjonene om \u00e5 oppn\u00e5 netto nullutslipp, kan ikke str\u00f8mnettene opprettholde bransjens n\u00e5v\u00e6rende kurs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kommer det en \"AI-vinter\", der AI gjennomg\u00e5r en lang prosess med \u00e5 bli mer raffinert og effektiv f\u00f8r den blir mer intelligent?
