Die W\u00e4hler sprachen sich in allen 40 F\u00e4llen dagegen aus. Laut einer W\u00e4hlerbefragung gaben drei von vier Befragten an, sich gegen die Anschaffung eines neuen Rechenzentrums in ihrer eigenen Gemeinde auszusprechen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ballotpedia, das lokale Volksabstimmungen verfolgt, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ballotpedia.org\/2026\/11\/03\/voters-in-ten-states-will-vote-on-data-center-related-ballot-measures-november-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listete die 41 Stimmen auf<\/a> Am Tag vor der Wahl wurden 28 Gesetzesentw\u00fcrfe eingebracht, die den Bau von Rechenzentren durch Verbote, Baustopps oder neue Genehmigungsregeln einschr\u00e4nken w\u00fcrden, w\u00e4hrend 13 den Bau erleichtern w\u00fcrden, haupts\u00e4chlich durch Umwidmung von Fl\u00e4chen oder unverbindliche Zustimmungserkl\u00e4rungen. Ohio hielt 21 dieser Entw\u00fcrfe, also mehr als die H\u00e4lfte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In allen F\u00e4llen au\u00dfer einem sprachen sich die W\u00e4hler f\u00fcr die Begrenzungen aus oder lehnten die Position der Bef\u00fcrworter von Neubauten ab., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/11\/04\/data-center-ballot-measures-2026-midterm.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laut Ballotpedia und den von CNBC gesammelten Ergebnissen<\/a>. Rechenzentren f\u00fcr k\u00fcnstliche Intelligenz ben\u00f6tigen enorme Mengen an Strom, und viele nutzen Wasser zur K\u00fchlung. Mehrere Ma\u00dfnahmen legen genau daf\u00fcr Grenzwerte fest. Eine Ma\u00dfnahme in Kansas verbietet Rechenzentren mit einem Stromverbrauch von \u00fcber 25 Megawatt. Andere sehen eine \u00f6ffentliche Abstimmung vor, bevor Projekte, die bestimmte Grenzwerte f\u00fcr Land, Wasser oder Strom \u00fcberschreiten, realisiert werden k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manche Ergebnisse waren unausgewogen. In Wells, Maine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/2026-election-results-show-widespread-opposition-to-ai-data-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mehr als 80 % der W\u00e4hler<\/a> Es wurde eine 180-t\u00e4gige Aussetzung beschlossen, die auch k\u00fcrzlich getroffene Entscheidungen aufhebt.
